Pentre day 1

Just a quick message to say all is well at the end of day 1. The pupils are fast asleep after a long day of bike riding, rock climbing and a night time walk followed quiet time and hot chocolate. Looking forward to a day full of activity tomorrow.

Class 1

I am sure you will join us in saying congratulation to Mrs Sailes who welcomed a little baby boy this week. From next week onwards, Mrs J Vetri will work with Class 1 on Mondays and Tuesdays and Ms Thomas will be with the class on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. If you have any queries or questions both members of staff are more than happy to answer them.

As was communicated on Monday, circumstances meant we had to cancel parents evening for Class 1 this week. We will arrange a face to face parents evening in November for the class.

Parents Evening

The rest of the parents evenings will take place on the week beginning 10th October 2022. Dates and times will be made available shortly.

Friday Assembly

It was a delight to have all the pupils in the hall together for the first time in two and a half years. It was mad particularly special by the shared moment at the end created by Dosbarth 5.

Please see the powerpoint linked below, which we watched together, accompanied by Her Majesty the Queen’s favourite song ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’ by Vera Lynn.

Message – 9.9.22

Dear Parents/Guardians

Welcome back to all the pupils, we hope you had a fantastic summer and managed to find some time to relax. It is wonderful to have the pupils in their new classes and getting on with the new topics. Hope fully you have received some information from your child’s new class teacher about the class they have joined.

School Dinners

We have communicated a few times about the requirement to pre-book a hot school dinner if your child wishes to have one. I am delighted to say, with few exceptions, this is happening now. For those that are yet to do so, I would encourage you to do so soon, as the weather gets colder the requirement for a warm dinner will be more pressing.

If you are unsure how to do this please contact the front reception.

Clubs

We are slowly but surely hoping to integrate clubs into our school timetable this term. We will send out information on clubs as and when they are commencing. Thank you for your patience.

Secondary Admissions

The application period has now opened for year 6 pupils to apply for a secondary school place for September 2023.

Information packs explaining the admission process including letters to distribute to parents will be posted out to schools shortly. Once you receive your pack, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact a member of the admissions team.

Lastly, We entered school on Friday to the sad news of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. We decided to continue with our celebration assembly for all those pupils who were thoroughly deserving of their seren y wythnos awards. However, we did finish the assembly with a reflection on the events, a timely poem by Phillip Larkin about the queen and a minute silence. The assembly ended playing ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’ by Vera Lynn. One of HM Queen Elizabeth II favourite songs.

Reception Meals

County have made us aware that there may be some issues with Reception pupils booking their free school meals, with the parent pay app requesting payment. Please be assured by catering that the system will be updated over the next 24 hours but parents/guardians should be able to pre-order the meals over the weekend for next week without any charges being applied.  We are informed that should any pupils accounts be charged this will be refunded.   Should there be any unforeseen issues no reception pupil/s will be refused a meal.
